A Lost Love: Time For a New Love

"You seemed to be such a perfect couple! Of all of my friends, you are the last couple I ever wanted to see break up," said fifteen-year-old Nancy to her best friend, Molly, who was one year older.

"It was so unexpected!" replied Molly, tearfully. "I will never get over it."

Molly's boyfriend, Philip, had suddenly split up with her on Valentine's Day. Devastated by the cruel things he had said to her, she had been  reduced to tears.

Nancy was upset, too. At heart, she was a person who instinctively tried to fix broken relationships and so she decided to try to help Molly and Philip get back on track.

"This break-up should never have happened! There must be something that I can do to repair a lost love relationship. True love does not just die. How can I fix it?"

She thought about it for a while.

"I have a plan!"

March break was looming on the horizon. Nancy decided to invite Molly on a weekend ski trip, as soon as she learned from one of Philip's friends, that he planned to go skiing.

"If I can just get the two of them together," she thought to herself.

The bus arrived on schedule and the girls boarded early, excited about skiing. Nancy decided not to say anything to Molly about Philip, but rather, to enjoy their time together. Much to Nancy's surprise, Philip did not show up at the bus terminal.

Moments after they reached their ski resort, Molly and Nancy were greeted by two attractive young men, who took delight in showing them around the ski village.

"A lost love?" said the young man, who took an instant liking to Molly. "That is so perfect!"

By the time they reached the top of the ski lift, the four of them had become fast friends with plans for the entire weekend.

Then, the unexpected happened. As they prepared to disembark from the ski lift, Nancy realized Philip was waiting there. He had spotted the girls with their new friends, immediately. They were obviously enjoying themselves and so he left, aware that his expectations with respect to Molly, were not about to be met.

"I was so dumb," he decided.

He tumbled headfirst, as he was skiing down the long mountain slope, alone. "Maybe it was never meant to be."
