“This parking lot is huge,”
said Missy, as she got off the tour bus with her aunt, at Disney World, in Florida . “There is hardly anyone here yet.”
An old man also disembarked
along with several, young families. It was early and the admission gates
were just opening.
“Welcome to Disney World and
the Magic Kingdom ,” said the admissions officer.
“Will you be staying the entire day? There will be fireworks.”
“Really?” exclaimed
Missy, her face glowing with excitement.
“Pale face, we are staying since you came all of the way from Canada. I always wanted to take you to Disney World. We can go on all of the rides with
a day pass,” said her aunt, with a smile.
Ten hours
later, thoroughly exhausted, Missy and her aunt were still having fun. As
the bright sun set, its reflections glimmering across the lake, they sat down
in the grass.
“What a wonderful world to
explore together!”
“You are not too tired to stay?” asked
Missy, hoping her aunt would not change her mind about the fireworks.
“We are not leaving yet."
In spite of her age, Missy’s
aunt had thoroughly enjoyed the day. “I am so glad you came to visit me.”
“Me too,” relied Missy. “I
loved the rides, the food was fantastic and I met Mickey Mouse. The Magic Kingdom is wonderful!”
“We are both kids at heart.”
A quiet peace reigned, as the
moon and stars glimmered in the water. Suddenly, fireworks exploded in
the sky, with hundreds of multicolored lights glowing across the full expanse
of the lake.
“This is so beautiful!”
“The pyrotechnical experts did
an amazing job,” replied Missy’s aunt, as they boarded the tour bus heading
home. “I don’t know why I never came here before. What a fantastic day this has
been and what a wonderful celebration!”
At the back of the bus sat the
old man who had been inconspicuously following them around Disney World,
all day.
“It is just as if I was here
with my own family.”
