When Worlds Collide: Christmas Sparks

Adriana's college exams were finished, and her task for the day was that of decorating the Christmas tree, while her mother was at work.

"My world is certainly not your world, Mom," she thought to herself, as she rummaged through the box of traditional, Christmas decorations sitting on the coffee table. "These are so obsolete! I am too embarrassed to put them on the Christmas tree. I'll die if any of my friends come over!"

Just then, her smart phone rang. "Let's go Christmas shopping," Tiffany, her best friend, suggested excitedly. "I will pick you up!"

"Great, we need some new Christmas decorations," replied Adriana.

"Got any good ideas?" she asked Tiffany, as she got into her bright red car, ten minutes later.

"Sure do!"

"My world is certainly not your world," thought Adriana's mother, a few hours later, as she gazed at the Christmas tree dressed in unusual, psychedelic colors. The rest of the living room which had been decorated the same way, looked anything but familiar to her.

The box of old, traditional Christmas tree decorations was on the stairwell. It looked as if it had not even been touched.

From the kitchen, she could hear the girls giggling, happily.

"Your Mom might throw me out on my ear," said Tiffany. "What if she doesn't like it?"

"It certainly will not be what she expects!"

"Mom,” exclaimed Adriana, moments later, as her mother entered the room unexpectedly. “Tiffany helped me decorate the Christmas tree. It was so much fun! Would you like some hot chocolate?"

"That smells really good!" Adriana's mother was still not certain how to respond. "Well, the Christmas tree certainly is anything but traditional, and so is our living room," she said, after a few moments, as she sipped the hot chocolate quietly.

“When two worlds collide, sparks fly,” she thought to herself.
